ZFolio Spring Events 2013

Wow! What a line up - spring and fall 2013

See Events for locations, dates and times. Two contemporary glass artists, four jewelry designers and the creators of the most beautiful and sophisticated opera purses in the world, Bo’s Art, in person at ZFolio in Solvang and in Monterey.

Jay Bridgland is amazing, but then again, all glass artists are one of a kind. His glass couture jewelry is luminous. He uses a torch to create large multi colored glass beads, some with and spiraling patters. His creations steal the show. Monterey only, but next time we will drag him to Solvang, too.

Paul D. Harrie is another gem. As you know, ZFolio offers the finest, most diverse collection of contemporary art glass from the Czech Republic in the United States. Over the years Z, a Czech native, and I have been introduced to the leading artists in a country known around the world for its 700 year glass tradition. Few artists can match the clarity and precision found in Czech glass. Paul D. Harrie does, and it shows. We love his spiraling creations and you will, too. Come meet him personally.

Tom Kruskal from New England is my all-time favorite classic-contemporary-romantic designer. He forges all his creations, meaning he uses hammers to work the gold instead of casting. Hammering changes the structure of the metal, rendering it extremely strong yet flexible, and this creates stunning designs that are light, delicate and as I said, very romantic.

Of course we invited representatives from Alex Sepkus to be with us this spring, sharing their entire collection of stunning creations. Alex Sepkus dislike to stand around and talk about himself and decided years ago to have others spread the word. We work with their team every year and celebrate every chance to be together.

John Kennedy will be with us in both locations. In the past 100 years there have been only five new patents for innovation in jewelry design, John received two of these. His insight was simple, as is often the case. Select gems that transmit light like fiber optics rather than reflect light as diamonds do, like a mirror. The results are highly engineered designs that radiate with natural color as no other designer can match. Looking for something special for that man in your life? Come see John.

Always on the organic-edge, Sarah Graham will be with us in Monterey in October. It is a joy to work with and represent Sarah, a new mom, bursting with creativity. She is always pushing herself, or should I say playing at the edge of her unknown. Nature is her muse. Come and meet her. Save the date.

Every woman wants one. No, not chocolate or another guy hanging around; a sleek, sexy and sophisticated opera purse from Bo's Art in Los Angeles, made of stainless steel mesh for that special occasion when nothing else is quite right. Lukasz and Bozenna, charming husband and wife creative team from Poland, now in Los Angeles, are the ones you are looking for. See their entire new collection, the colors and the moire patters. Simply stunning.

And Sydney Lynch. For years Sydney and I would talk at trade shows. Her gift, and it is a gift, is a deep feeling for balance and precision. Sydney can take what looks like a bunch of twigs and abracadabra, wearable art. You and I would still have stick. Hers is not an intellectual process. She knows when the balance of elements is just right. Organic, fun, often bold and sassy, that’s Sydney Lynch, coming to ZFolio Solvang on November 29 and 30.
