Gartner-Blade-Sargasso Art Glass Sphere - Ivory Covered-SPHCA-SGIVBR

You will "sea” the Rockies every time you gaze upon your Sargasso small covered jar created by Stephen Gartner and Danielle Blade. One never knows the moment their inspiration will hit. On a mid-day flight high above the Rockies, Danielle Blade was struck by the awe-inspiring beauty of the palette of colors naturally provided by these majestic mountains. Layers upon layers of terra cotta and gray greens were accentuated by a brilliant white. Spellbound by these colors, the moment she arrived home, Danielle tore apart her studio to capture and recreate this exquisite color combination into Gartner & Blade’s blown glass.

This Sargasso covered sphere is shaped like a chubby bowl. An additional composition of horizontal lines is pressed into the color pattern of the vessel and marbled smooth before the final gather of clear molten glass. The removable lid has a bone and Avian style finial. No two will ever be exactly alike in size or in pattern.

Is the collaborative work of Danielle Blade & Stephen Gartner. Business partners since 1996, we combine our ideas, techniques and experiences to create original works in both blown and sculpted hot glass. We are continually developing a series of pieces that explores our interpretation of objects used in rituals and worship. The inspiration for these pieces begins with our mutual fascination with the many vessels and sculptural objects that are revered in the rituals of both primitive and contemporary cultures. Natural elements such as bone, wood, vine and rock formations combine with our highly original color palette to inform our signature pieces. Our work merges traditional hand blown glass techniques with innovative color applications and original sculpting techniques.
