Bowl - Japanese Maple - Iced

Here is another Stephen Schlanser original, so simple and so elegant. Slump crystal clear glass in a distinctive form, etch a distinctive Japanese maple pattern on the outer surface, and repeat. Stephen has been making stained glass as well as slumped, etched and sandblasted glass for years. Each one starts from a piece of sheet glass which is carefully shaped inside a closed kiln after being heated to a melting temperature. After each one is allowed to cool, it is etched, hand cut and polished.
